Wayne Bacon Update

"Just a note to let you know that Wayne has moved to a different room. He is now in Room 201, (by choice). Still at LakePoint, 13th and West. Hopefully this will be a good move, as the other room mates he got "stuck" with were not the kind of people he should be around, especially with all of his problems. His room mate is Sydney, and I think he is 92 years "young". They got acquainted a long time ago, and seem to like the same things, and get along very well. Anyone who visits, will usually find the door closed, and that is just because they like it that way. They don't like all the hall traffic "gawking" into their room. He still very much likes to have company though!! Little sis Karen was there this evening, and Juanita is in town and will visit sometime before she leaves. There was a Valentines Dinner this evening, with about 36 "couples". It was very nice, and I was quite surprised...Wayne was "King", and another resident named Shirley was "Queen", so we were at the HEAD table. I guess the residents voted for them earlier. They even had crowns and red capes, except Wayne forgot to wear his...he forgot he even had gotten them. I guess they also had a big party yesterday...so they do try to keep them occupied."

Wayne Bacon Update

The following was sent from Wayne's wife Sharon to other family members:

I just wanted to let you know, it looks like Uncle Wayne will have to stay in a nursing facility. Aunt Lou went to a meeting with me yesterday, and the insurance will no longer pay, as he is not responding to therapy. Due to the MS, he probably will never get to the place where he was before he fell, that is, walking with his modified walker.

I am not able to lift him in and out of his wheelchair, to move him around, and it would be quite difficult to try to continue caring for him at home. The last couple of years has been a challenge for both of us.

He took it much better than Lou and I thought he would. We more or less left the decision up to him. He said he wants to come home, but knows he can't, so he will stay there, at least for the time being.

We will see how it goes, and if need be, I will at least have some time to look for another place if things don't work out there. He seems content there, and gets good care, and he likes everyone, and they like him. There are a couple of places that are closer to the house, but I would not even consider them, for numerous reasons.

This has really been difficult, and I am sure it will not get any easier for any of us. We just have to have trust and faith in our Heavenly Father to carry us through these difficult times.

He will be moved next week, into another area, and will be in a semi-private room. They are being picky about finding a "good match" for his room mate. I hope they find someone that he likes. Will keep you informed.
