Elsie Miller's Husband Dies

Jimmy Carl Miller, age 73, of Roach, Mo., passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was born on Oct. 8, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of the Rev. Johnny and Rose Waisner Miller. Shortly following his birth he moved with his family to Climax Springs, Mo. In 1952, they moved to northern California where he graduated from Butte Valley High School. In 1955, the family returned to Climax Springs.

In 1957, he was united in marriage to Arden Jewett and unto this union, four children were born, Tim, Julie, Laurie and Kenneth. In 1960, Jimmy was inducted into the United States Army serving as a tank commander during the Berlin crises. He was honorably discharged in 1967.

Jimmy was baptized on May 7, 1959, at the First Baptist Church of Climax Springs. In 1980, he became a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Climax Springs and was very active until his death. Jimmy was a trustee of the church and had been active in the Buddy Pack work as well as vacation bible school. If the doors to the church were open, Jimmy was probably there. He had been involved in foreign mission trips and had been on three trips helping with Katrina and other disasters. He loved his church and his church family whom were always a support to him.

On Dec. 1, 1988, he was united in marriage to Elsie Draper in Miami, Okla. His job as assistant manger of Wal-mart took them to several states and cities, retiring from Wal-mart in Osage Beach in December of 2006. Since 2001, Jimmy and Elsie had made their home in Roach, Mo.

Jimmy was a giant fan of NASCAR and Mizzou Football. He enjoyed camping with his wife and was an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Johnny Christopher, who died in infancy.
Surviving is his devoted wife, Elsie, of the home, his beloved dogs, Sammy and Skippy, two sons, Tim Miller of Dallas, Texas, and Kenneth Miller of Albuquerque, N.M., two daughters, Julie Rudner of Climax Springs, Mo., and Laurie McFarland, of Little Rock, Ark., three step-children, Diana Webster of Olatha, Kan., Shari Schick of Overland Park, Kan., and Steven Webster of Shawnee, Kan., five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, a brother, Richard Miller of Eldon, Mo., numerous other relatives and a host of many friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday evening, Dec. 22, 2010, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw. Cremation followed. Memorials may be made to the Faith Baptist Church of Climax Springs, University of Missouri Scholarship Fund or the Harry S. Truman Veteran’s Hospital.
